A holiday is always better when bringing your best friend, let me tell you about some great things to to with your furry kids.
We do have a few rules on where you can and can not bring them which I will tell you first so everyone knows.
At the Apollo Bay Foreshore and around our shopping precinct dogs must be on a leash and attended by you at all times, our council also provides doggie bag dispensers for your convenience along the foreshore.
A great walk for your pooch and you would be either Apollo Bay to Marengo. If you follow the gravel footpath west alongside Great Ocean Road approx. 40 mins walk one-way or Apollo Bay to Skenes Creek when following the path east through sand dunes starting behind the Visitor Information Centre and continuing to Skenes Creek approx 6 km one way.
A few other walks you might want to take your dog on would be the Beauchamp Falls walking track, it starts at the Beauchamp Reserve with a distance of around 1.5kms should take around 1 hour to return and is a great walk to see a magnificent waterfall.
The Stevenson Falls, start from the Stevensons Falls Reserve, it is around 1.5km to walk to the waterfalls and should take you around 1 hour to return to the carpark.
Lake Elizabeth Campgrounds can be reached via the Kanglang Rd, Forrest, bring your four legged friend and have a picnic while soaking up the beautiful surrounds and also the Great Ocean Walk, which you could start from Marengo to GONP boundary near Three Creeks Crossing (there are signs to indicate this point on walk).
Feel free to see the best of the Bay and head out and hike up Marriners Lookout, the lookout is located on top of the hill sitting just north of Apollo Bay. An easy 10 minute walk from the carpark is rewarded with spectacular ocean, beach, hinterland and town view. When wanting to eat out in Apollo Bay you will have so many options, most of our cafes and restaurants have outdoor areas where you can dine in style and keep your doggie close to you.
The Great Ocean Road Brewhouse has a fantastic undercover beer garden which allows you to bring your pet with you, have meal and a drink while spending time without having to leave your furry friend behind. To explore further why not try the Otway Harvest trail for some scenic drives and hidden food and produce gems, most wineyard/ farm owners allow you to bring your dog when on leash and friendly, I would suggest call first and making sure it is ok to bring them though.Besides the beaches, walks and waterfalls alongside great local produce you and your pet will find Apollo bay the ideal place to visit.
