Welcome to the Great Ocean Road and Apollo Bay, ‘paradise by the sea’ and gateway to the Twelve Apostles.
Our little coastal town has so much to offer to you.
You may come down for a visit to do the ever so popular Great Ocean Walk (104 km starting from Apollo bay to the Twelve Apostles), to see the Twelve Apostles (one of the seven world wonders) or to simply enjoy and relax at the world famous beaches we have.
If you are a nature lover or more the indoorsy type either or Apollo Bay is the right place to visit.
We have more than a handful of the most popular waterfalls within a 50 min from our town center which makes them an ideal destination for a day trip and no matter what season they never disappoint.
If wanting to see the best of the Bay you might want to head out and hike up Marriners Lookout, the lookout is located on top of the hill sitting just north of Apollo Bay. An easy 10 minute walk from the carpark is rewarded with spectacular ocean, beach, hinterland and town view. If you’re feeling more energetic, walkabout 1.5 kilometres north from Apollo Bay along the beach or Great Ocean Road, then climb a steep hill along a surfaced road for another 1.5 kilometres to the lookout track (take heed of passing traffic).
With many more hiking and walking trails all around the town you will find some great places to enjoy nature and picnic in the open.
We also have a great indoor farmers market on every Sunday of the month, here you can buy some fresh local produce and taste what our region has to offer.
Coffee fanatics will be delighted to hear that Hello Coffee is now offering coffee roasting classes, this is a great opportunity to learn about the history of roasting and creating your own unique blend of coffee that you can take home to enjoy and or share.
Besides the marks and Hello Coffee other things to do indoors include the Apollo Bay museum, where you can learn about how life was like in and around our town hundreds of years ago or have a look through the mechanics hall where some of our local artists display their finest projects.
We have plenty to see for you, if you like pay a visit to the Cape Otway Lightstation, The Otway Fly or the Great Ocean Road Eco Wildlife Park when on your way to the iconic Twelve Apostles.
You can combine any of those activities with your drive to the Apostles or take your time and plan them individually as day trips.
All in all you will find yourself wanting to stay for longer.
